Down below are some references and storyboards  for this music video.For this project, I will only animate the portion of  video, when the super star companys with the girl in an ambulence to the hospital.

.Brief Summary:

1. A super star with a frown  is looking out  from the window .  His agent is yelling to him, puting all yellow memo stickers  on the wall.

2. Outside the building, the super star is signing  for his fans. sudenly , he saw a beautiful girl  and embraced her while the agent is reminding him ” never give your fans a hug ….”.  the girl falls unconscious.

3. The super star companys with the girl in an ambuance . On the way to hospital, the star begins to sing a song to the girl.

4.  He keeps singing  until the ambulance stops . Then the camera cuts to outside, the ambulance is located at an un-named, wild ,  fantancy forest. It’s  height has grown up as a tower  and get stocked by the trees.

5. The girl wakes up, slowly walking out of the car and is back to the way home.  Inside the ambulance, the star lays on the floor and his head is bleeding  . Last shot,  we see a smile on his face, and the blood is yellow.

Study of Tribeca Film Festival:

1. The festival was founded to celebrate New York City as a major filmmaking center and contribute to the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan.

1.Tribeca Film Festival:

a.  Graphic consideration- Scale:

> Original Tribeca Logo have vertical strip looks, so I will use it’s graphical characteristic to make the animation.

> “scale” can make things look different or smiliar by scale them up or down:  Scale can make dot become a line , of even a face. Scale can make a special moment become a long journey, or do the opposite, make a journey back to a moment. The initial concept of tribeca logo animation  is based on playing the scale of  three elements.

Concept : dot > line > dot > line > logo.

b.  Plot of Animation:

Animation starts with a hat, which was hanging on the shelf in a dark room.The visual image is all black and white  with old photo looks. Suddenly, Hat falls down by wind belowing and fly away out  the room. Hat travels through different scene, each scene shows different age of film history. Through hat’s traveling, the color of the scene  become more and more saturated, In the end , the hat comes NYC with most saturated scenary, then it hit the building (ex. Rockefeller center), and a figure appear from a hat – Charlie Chaplin, who is smiling with new saturated dress and standing on the rock feller center.

After Chaplin apperence, Camera soon zoom out,  now we see the lots of skyscrapter  resembling to film( with strip graphical looks ) lost the details  gradually , finally transit to the simple tribeca logo.

c. Structure:

dot (hat )   >    line (hat travel through time, it’s movemnt of a dot, become a line)    >      dot ( Charlie Chaplin)    >     line ( skyscraper) > transit to Logo (graphical similarity).

It is the idea so far..  The second one is on progress.

My current favorite collection of studio works are from Passion Pictures. Most  of them share the quality of appealling character design and sense of color, such as “Journey to the East”, “Sony Bravia-PLAY-DOH” and Pete’s “THE BEATLES: ROCK BAND”. I also enjoy Koichiro’s”Whale “, which shows  understated  imagination and nonsensical humor.

Inspiration2:

I always love fantasy-style, and surrealistic movies . Like Akira Kurosawa’s “Dreams”, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Amelie” ,  and all Charlie Kaufman’s films (screen writing). I like they use the form of fiction to project humanity, not only entertaining but also evocative.
